Platelet coagulant activities and hemostasis: a hypothesis.
نویسنده
چکیده
Platelets have recently been shown to participate in reactions with blood coagulation factors at every stage of intrinsic clotting, from contact activation to fibrin formation. Platelets can trigger intrinsic coagulation by two alternative pathways, the first of which involves factors XII and Xl and adenosine diphosphate, and the second of which bypasses factor XII, provided factor Xl and collagen are present. Additional evidence indicates that subsequent coagulation reactions occur on the platelet surface, where active clotting factors are protected from inactivation by glimmer comes from Rollebon ‘s direction. Slow, lazy. sulky. the facts adapt themselves at a pinch to the order I wish to give them, but it remains outside of them. I have the impression of doing a work of pure imagination-Jean-Paul Sartre, La Naus#{233}e, 1938

Evaluation of Consequences of Dust Positioned in Southwest of Iran on Coagulant Factors
Background: Various regions in Iran, especially the Khuzestan Province, have been covered by dust and dirt during the past two years due to environmental changes in the Middle East. We sought to evaluate the effect of these pollutants on the coagulant factors of people residing in Abadan and Khoramshahr, two major cities of Khuzestan Province. Methods: One hundred twenty-nine healthy in...
متن کاملCoagulant activities of platelets in coronary artery disease.
Platelets have been implicated in the pathogenesis of coronary artery disease, and a number of studies have examined platelet function and coagulation parameters in such patients. We have examined platelet coagulant activities, volumes, and aggregate ratios in 23 patients with chest pain, seven of whom had normal coronary angiograms (group I) and 16 of whom had angiographically proven coronary ...

متن کاملAn Overview on Platelet-derived Microparticles in Platelet Concentrates: blood collection, method preparation and storage
Preparations of platelet concentrates (PCs) that are stored under blood bank conditions and used for transfusion purposes, appear to be enriched in platelet derived-microparticles (PMPs) with high coagulant activity that may change platelet efficacy and safety issues. High shear stress could cause shedding of PMPs from the platelet plasma membrane, platelet aggregation, and activation of the co...
متن کاملNature of Bleeding
Hemorrhagic diathesis can be caused by disorders in primary hemostasis (von Willebrand disease, inherited platelet function disorders), secondary hemostasis (hemophilia A, B, other coagulant factor deficiencies) and fibrinolysis, and in connective tissue or vascular formation. This review summarizes the approach to a bleeding patient starting from structured patient history, to applying bleedin...
